UMCU Holday Donation Drive

Toys for Mott donation hub at UMCU State Street branch with UMCU team and christmas tree

The holidays should feel like the holidays for every child. For 18 years, our members and community have made sure of that by coming together for the Toys for Mott and Hurley donation drive, bringing toys, books, and essentials to the young patients and families at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Hurley Medical Center. This year's drive runs November 2 through December 4 at participating UMCU branches.

What to Donate

Both hospitals have shared what their young patients need most this season. Accepted items include:

  • New, unwrapped toys
  • Books (the most requested item by hospital staff)
  • Art supplied and craft kits
  • Board games and tabletop games

Why This Matters

A hospital stay is hard on any family. During the holidays, it can feel even harder. The toys, books and supplies collected through this drive do more than fill a playroom. They give children and their families something to look forward to. They give parents a moment of relief. And they remind every family that their community is thinking of them.

18 Years and Counting

What started in 2008 has grown into one of UMCU's most meaningful traditions. Last year alone, our community raised over $8,000 in toys and supplies. That generosity also inspired our Books in the Branch campaign, which collects new children's books for Mott patients year-round.

This year, we want to go even further. Help us make the holidays brighter for the children at Mott and Hurley.
