We invest in the communities we serve.

At UMCU, we believe in supporting organizations and events that keep our communities strong. Every one of our team members is committed to making a difference every day.

UMCU is partnering with the United Way to collect school supplies for the annual Stuff the Bus campaign. Now through July 28th, stop by any branch location to drop off new school supplies or make a monetary donation to benefit local schools. Learn more about United Way visit uwwashtenaw.org.

If you would like to contribute by purchasing school supplies, please visit our Amazon Wish List.

During our 2023 Shop Local Give Local campaign, UMCU is teaming up with more than 150 local businesses to donate to the Ann Arbor Community Center, a charity that helps famili in Washtenaw County.

“I think that when a company like UMCU chooses to focus on the community in the way that they have, it encourages others to follow that lead and really tap into the great local businesses surrounding them. UMCU has put an important and needed spotlight on local small businesses and given tremendous effort to spreading the word about us. That support means the world to a small business and it's nice to know another company sees you as a valuable asset in the community,” said Jen McPherson, owner of McPherson Local.

UMCU is a proud partner of the Michigan Medicine C.S Mott Children’s Hospital and Hurley Medical Center. During the 2023 holiday season, UMCU will be collecting new, unwrapped toys at the following branch locations:

  • Jackson Rd
  • State St
  • Bristol Rd
  • Plymouth Rd
  • South University
  • Dearborn
  • E William St
  • Carpenter Rd

This annual toy drive is a favorite of UMCU members and team members. Stop by one of these branches to donate today! Donations are being collected now through December 8, 2023.

Every year, our summer interns are tasked with creating a meaningful way to give back to the community. In past years our summer interns have launched a food drive benefiting Food Gatherers, a Washtenaw County-based non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. During this drive, team UMCU donated more than 685 pounds of food – equivalent to 570 meals – for families in need. The drive concluded with a day of action, providing UMCU team members an opportunity to work at the Food Gatherers warehouse, preparing food for delivery!

American Heart Association Heart Walk: Every year, UMCU partners with Michigan Medicine to raise funds for the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and stroke in the community. Our team members and UMCU members help contribute to the fundraising as well as participate in the annual Washtenaw County Heart Walk/Run.

United Way Stuff the Bus: This year, UMCU donated $1,500 worth of school supplies to United Way of Washtenaw County’s Stuff the Bus Event!
