Direct Deposit

Direct deposit of your payroll, Social Security, retirement, government, corporate pay, or disability check means that your funds are deposited automatically on payday, even when you are out of town. The Credit Union receives your paycheck electronically through an automated clearing house and your funds are distributed that same day (at your request) for loan payments, deposits to savings, or deposits to your checking account.

Sign up for direct deposit by completing a direct deposit authorization with your employer. If you are an employee of the University of Michigan or Washtenaw Community College you may request a form from a credit union representative either in person or over the telephone.

Frequently Asked Questions - Direct Deposit

Payroll Deduction

Payroll deduction is a convenient service UMCU offers and is possible because of the cooperation of your employer. The amount you authorize is automatically withheld from your paycheck every payday. When you authorize payroll deduction, only you and the credit union know how the deducted money will be applied to your UMCU accounts. Funds can be transferred, at your request, for loan payments, and/or deposits to other UMCU accounts. Once authorized, deductions continue until a cancellation or new authorization card is submitted to the credit union.

You may sign up for payroll deduction through your employer if they offer the service. University of Michigan or Washtenaw Community College employees may request a form from a credit union representative either in person or over the telephone.

Automatic Transfer

You can authorize UMCU to automatically transfer funds between your UMCU account(s). You can select to have your loan payment(s) transferred from one account to your loan account, or to transfer funds between most of your other accounts.
